Fishtail gears up for the Rescue mission!

The trio of Marizio Foloni, Armin Senoner and Capt. Piergiorgio Rosati have yet again arrived in Nepal to fly with Fishtail Air. The highly experienced team will be further enhancing the facilities provided by Fishtail Air which include rescue missions, sling operation, special missions amongst many others.

“A brief profile of the three pilots is given below:”

Marizio Foloni:
Born in Italy, Marizio Foloni has a long list of companies he has worked for in countries like Europe, Italy, Switzerland, Germany Canada and Uzbekistan. With a flying experience of 9000 hours, this Italian pilot is familiar with the single engine as well as the twin engine. Also a mountain guide and a member of rescue team in north Italy, Foloni has a lot of mountain experience including the sling operation and various rescue missions.

Armin Senoner
Also an Italian citizen, Armin Senoner is a mountain guide as well as a ski instructor. Renowned as a longline specialist, Senoner works for the Italian Helicopter Elikcos.

Captain Piergiorgio Rosati
Captain Piergiorgio Rosati has an incredible 9000 hours of flying experience excluding the 40-50 hours he spent flying in Nepal in just two weeks.

Fishtail Air’s newest helicopter commenced its first commercial flight today, 11th April, 2013! The AS 350 B3+ single-engine light helicopter had arrived in Nepal on 29th March after having left Italy on 18th March 2013. I-VIEW is fitted with 5+1 passenger seat version and is constantly ready to undertake real challenges and special missions. As one of the most powerful machines, this helicopter can safely operate up to the altitude of 23000 ft. Over the years this powerful machine has proven its capabilities and saved many lives around the world at very high altitudes and adverse weather conditions. With the latest addition to its fleet Fishtail Air continues to strive on its path to provide the best of services to its valued passengers like it has been doing over the years.

A Trip for Trip Advisor

A flight trip for Trip Advisor (www.tripadvisor.com) team of 6 including Country Manager and Territory Manager from India was arranged with Fishtail Air Helicopter on 14^th March 2013. An hour long trip took them to a snow clad mountains of Langtang Range. As a special trip they boarded the flight straight from the Club Himalaya premise at Nagarkot and flew upto Lantang and back. An hour long halt at Kyanjing Gompa was a delight to enjoy their warm breakfast, steaming tea and great vista right before them. It was indeed an awesome experience to fly the team says Captain Ashish who flew B3 [Juliet India] for this mission. Entrepreneur organization (EO) Nepal hosted the Asia Bridge Campus 2013 same as in year 2011 in which the VIP guests mainly from Japan, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries of the Asia Pacific and a few from the U.S.A and New Zealand participated. EO presented 140 of their young entrepreneurs an exhilarating lifetime experience of the panoramic birdlike view of the Khumbu valley (Mt. Everest Region).

Fishtail Air was responsible for coordinating the whole mission in the year 2011 and was an honor to be a part of the team this year as well. Pacific Asia Travel Association PATA, Nepal Chapter elects Mr. Suman Pandey as the new Chairman of the organization on the occasion of 37^th Annual General Meeting held on 03 January, 2013 during the program hosted at Hotel Shangri-La. Other seven members along with him were elected to form the new executive committee for the span of 2 years.

The newly elected Chairman of PATA, Nepal Chapter Mr. Suman Pandey is a founder President of Explore Himalaya Travel and Adventure and is currently a CEO of Fishtail Air Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Pandey’s career is well decorated with several tourism awards including “Life Time Achievement Award” for contribution in Tourism by “American Biographical Institute” in 2008 and Tourism Man of the Year- 2010 by Gantabya Nepal. Mr. Pandey has successfully executed the challenging authorities of numerous Tourism organizations which includes the President of Trekking Agency Association of Nepal TAAN from 2001 to 2003.

On the Occasion of International Civil Aviation Organization day, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation organized a photo competition on 7th December 2012.

Picture by Mr. Ranjan Limbu of Fishtail Air bagged the first prize. the concept of the winning picture was conceived by Capt. Deepak Rana also from Fishtail Air.5th Position was taken by the picture taken by Ms. Wendy Elizabeth of Everest Skydive 2012. Likewise a picture taken by the joint team of Air Zermatt, Switzerland and Fishtail Air during the highest sling rescue in Annapurna Region took away the 6th position.

Chief guest of the program was Hon. Minister for Tourism Post Bahadur Bogati.

Since the year 2007 Fishtail Air has been operating flights for Everest Skydive. This year too saw plenty of actions for our pilots. Mauriziol Follini flew in from Italy to team up with Captain Ashish Sherchan of Fishtail Air for the event.

15 jumpers from USA, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Pakistan and Slovakia enjoyed solo and tandem jumps over Mt. Amadablam Base Camp (1500ft) and Syangboche (12400ft).

During the 4-day event skydivers enjoyed spectacular views of the mountains and were upbeat till the end. This event is getting popular with more and more divers taking part each year. Fishtail Air is proud to be a part of this elite world-class air adventure sports team.

Everest Skydive Flights by Fishtail Air

Fishtail Air operated Skydive flights to the Syangboche Area on 1 November 2012. AS350B3 Helicopter 9N-AJI of Fishtail Air operated the flights managed by Everest Skydive. The flight was operated by the expert Italian pilot of Fishtail Air Captain Maurizio Folini. The dives were performed from the ceiling altitude of above 22000 ft. Initial solo dives were performed by Mr. Miloslav Sulda (Australian) and Dr. Ryan James Jackson (British). Total five skydive flights were operated for the foreign divers. The professional sky divers are from USA, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Pakistan and Slovakia.

Avalanche at Manaslu Base camp swept away expedition members!

An avalanche occurred at Camp III of the Mt. Manaslu at 7,300 meters at around 4 am on 23^rd September. The climbers were most possibly sleeping when they were hit by the snow. Even though an official data and the name lists of the victims has not been made clear by the officials, it is believed that some twelve climbers have gone missing, thirteen injured and some 8 people have been identified as deceased.

Chopper of Fishtail Air is carrying out the search and rescue operation at the moment. Captain Steven Bruce Bokan is in command of 9N-AJI helicopter for this search and rescue operation.

According to Capt Bokan, the toll may increase as the time passes by and because of the adverse weather the operation has been more so difficult. Most of the victims hail from Germany and France. All those injured so far have been immediately transferred to hospital in Kathmandu for medical treatment.

Our efforts are still on and we hope to rescue all the possible survivors and pray for those who could not make it back to life. May the departed rest in peace.
