Indian pilgrim rescued from Simikot

Mr.Sanjaya Kumar Bhatta from India was rescued today from Simikot on our B2 (9N-AKA) helicopter. He was on his pilgrimage to the Holy Kailash Mansarovar when he fell seriously sick because of the high altitude. He immediately called for rescue.

Our helicopter at the moment was based in Simikot and Captain Deepak flew him to Kathmandu.

We wish him the earliest recovery.

Our B3 helicopter is still based at Simikot for the Pilgrimage mission and other rescues on standby.

Lamjung Festival exhibits heli tour for locals

Our Bell helicopter AII flew to Besisahar for scenic shuttles for locals and other interested people on the 17th. Interestingly, it has so far flown more than 100 people of all ages. Fishtail Air team consisting of Capt. Ashish, Rtd. Col. O.P Shrestha and Dilak Shrestha have been stationed there. They are still flying people around giving them a tour of Lamjung district viz. Ghaley Gaun, Ghana Pokhara and the valley besides.

Besisahar – the capital of Lamjung district- a village at approx. 2700ft with a population of about 7,000. Lamjung festival was in full swing since the 17th of Feb. for tourism, agricultural, hydropower, and cultural development of the district. They were to have around 100 stalls exhibiting local, cultural and other miscellaneous products. Lamjung has a huge share in honey, orange and cardamom production.

Promotion of heli flights in these small towns and villages has given a great boost to their identity and we are glad to be able to help with it.

Heli Tours – A special way to explore Nepal

Blessed with natural beauty and a rich cultural history, Nepal is one of the most frequented travel destinations in Asia. This tiny Himalayan nation encompasses eight of the world’s highest peaks, ten UNESCO World Heritage Sites (eight cultural and two natural heritage sites) and over a hundred ethnic groups.  To explore the country on board a helicopter is one of the best experiences. Helicopter tours operated by Fishtail Air allow you to discover the cultural and natural treasures of Nepal in a special way.

Kathmandu, the capital city, is a blend of the old and the new. Made up of three medieval kingdoms – Kathmandu, Patan & Bhaktapur, the city’s ancient monuments share space with modern malls and high rise buildings. Taking an aerial city sightseeing tour gives you a whole new perspective of the entire valley. Starting your tour from Tribhuvan International Airport, you fly above the iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites.  Aerial views of Boudhanath, Swoyambhunath and the three ancient Durbar (palace) Squares standing proudly amidst a maze of concrete buildings is simply breathtaking and unforgettable.  Enjoying the bird’s eye view of the valley, surrounded by green hills and mountains, you almost find the legend of the valley being once a lake convincing.

For those who want to fly further and explore the high Himalayan regions, Fishtail Air has created heli trekking and mountain flight products.  Fly past the high glacial lakes and valleys, and the world’s tallest peaks in the Everest Region. Marvel at the bird’s eye view of the flaming rhododendron forests and snowy pinnacles in the Annapurna region. Take on the Tamang Heritage Trail via air, and discover the magnificent panorama of the Langtang Range and the Tibetan peaks. Take a thrilling ride to the tropical jungle in the Terai lowlands and enjoy wildlife safari at Chitwan National Park.

Take a ride with Fishtail Air and explore Nepal in a special way.

Hilsa mission: Great success!

We stationed our AS350B2 – AIW at Simikot (2190m) since the 14th of May this year for shuttles to Hilsa and back. We started this mission to provide ease of access to all our religious clients who want to visit Kailash Mansarovar.

Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva and a place of eternal bliss, is the most sacred peak for the Hindus. Equally holy is the Manasarovar Lake. Bathing in the sacred Lake Manasarovar is considered an essential part of the entire pilgrimage.

It has been a month now since we started with this one of a kind service with rotational duties of our crew. We initially had Swiss Captain Jurg Segessennmann stationed there for the mission until recently Captain Deepak Rana replaced him. So far we have carried out more than 400 pilgrims from Simikot to Hilsa in the past month. Today the 15th of June we had 35 passengers going up from Simikot. AIW is still based at Simikot and the mission is still on.

We congratulate the crew and the team for such an achievement and all our passengers for flying with us.
