Air Zermatt team stationed for sling operation!
A team of pilots from Air Zermatt (Switzerland)- Captain Daniel Auftenblatten (who performed the Highest Human Sling Rescue operation at Annapurna from 6500m) and Captain Gerold Biner have been stationed here in Nepal with Fishtail Air for rescue services and more, specially for the sling operations this season. Air Zermatt has been working in co-ordination with Fishtail Air in this regards and we hope that this will widen our range of services and strengthen the trust of people in our operations. Currently the Air Zermatt team is stationed at Lukla training our crew, rescue technicians and mountain guides especially for human sling operations, and on standby for other missions.
Cargo Sling operation at Gorkha
The team of Captain Ashish Sherchan and Captain Daniel Aufdenblatten (from Air Zermatt) flew our AS 350-AJI to Gorkha area for a sling cargo mission whereby they performed 6-7 shuttles of cargo from remote areas from Barpark to Gumda VDC. Fishtail Air was flying for the community hydro project transporting building materials like transformers and pipe lines. With this mission we aim to provide for the people of the remote areas of Nepal where road transport is not possible.
These kinds of missions make us proud that we have such a wide range of operational capabilities and that we can help people in ways more than few. We hope that missions like these contribute slightly to the development of the nation.
Rescue from the International Canyoning Rendezvous (ICR)!
The International Canyoning Rendezvous is an event for adventurers and avid trekking enthusiasts from the 7th to the 13th of April. By organizing this event Nepal Canyoning Association hoped to promote canyoning in Nepal and create new interest in the country for people all over the world. Fishtail Air is an official rescue air career for the entire event. Unfortunately at this event Mr. Manul Ibanez Silva from Spain who was a participant of the ICR met with a serious accident where he fractured his leg at the Tatopani Khola about 3 Km south of Ghermu at an altitude of 1400m. Fishtail Air’s AJI-B3 immediately took off from Kathmandu Airport under command of Captain Ashish Sherchan and our new member of the team Captain Jurg Segessenmann. Mr. Ibanez was rescued on time and flown back to Kathmandu.
Fishtail Air wishes him the earliest recovery so that he can seek for more adventures soon.

This was probably one of the most anomalous and high profile events in the Nepal Tourism year 2011. Entrepreneur organization (EO) is a dynamic, global network of more than 7500 business owners spread over 108 chapters in 40 countries with a vision to build the world’s most influential community of entrepreneurs. EO Nepal hosted the Asia Bridge Campus 2011 in which the VIP guests mainly from Japan, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries of the Asia Pacific and a few from the U.S.A and New Zealand had participated. EO presented 140 of their young entrepreneurs an exhilarating lifetime experience of the panoramic birdlike view of the Khumbu valley (Mt. This special International event involving high profile corporate was organized in partnership with Nepal Tourism year 2011. 140 guests were flown to Kondge Resort (4250m), one of the world’s highest mountain resort in the Sagarmatha National Park on 2nd of April from Kathmandu where they enjoyed Champagne brunch followed by a Scenic Flight in the valley and back to Kathmandu. With assistance from various other helicopter charter Companies and the Nepal Army a fleet of 10 helicopters this mission proved to be a success when we saw the glimmer in the eyes and the radiance in the body language of our guests after they were flown back to the Capital.
Fishtail Air also perceives this exclusive event as a great opportunity to promote our Himalayan Kingdom as a first class event destination initiating at the Tourism year and carrying it through to the future. We thank EO Nepal for organizing this major event and using Fishtail Air. We look forward to serving you in future. For more pictures click here
